Norwalk Staff, Parents and Families,

This morning district administration was made aware of a disturbing photo that was distributed on Snapchat last night.  Our middle school administration and local law enforcement went to the residence, prior to the start of the school day, to determine if the threat was credible. Law enforcement were able to determine the photo was of an airsoft gun. The student in question will not be in district for the remainder of the week and there will be additional safety protocols established with this individual student when the student returns to school. There is currently no threat to the safety of our buildings, students, and staff as it relates to this situation. District administration appreciates the work of our local law enforcement and the individuals who reported the incident in such a timely fashion this morning. The safety of our students, staff and community is our top priority and we are doing what we need to do to ensure the learning environment is safe.

Respectfully,

Shawn Holloway
Norwalk Superintendent
